Canesten oral capsule is an effective single dose treatment for vaginal thrush. Thrush is a common yeast infection that many women experience at some point in their lives. Symptoms include itching, irritation, burning sensation when you go the loo or unusual vaginal discharge.
The active ingredient in Canesten oral capsule is fluconazole, an antifungal that works to restore the balance of good and bad bacteria in your body and fights against the fungi or yeast that may be causing your thrush. This treatment is also suitable for men who experience symptoms of penile thrush.

expand_moreTo ease thrush and prevent further episodes:
- Use water and an emollient (like E45 cream) instead of soap to wash the affected area
- Dry properly after washing
- Wear cotton underwear
- Do not use soaps or shower gels
- Avoid perfumed products in and around your intimate area
- Do not wear tight underwear or tights
- Wipe from front to back after going to toilet
- Change your tampons or pads frequently
- Avoid indulging in hot bubble baths
- Avoid stress and maintain a healthy diet free from high-sugar food

- Consult your doctor or a pharmacist before use if you are taking any medication other than the contraceptive pill and if you are aged under 16 or over 60
- Keep out of the reach and sight of children
- Do not store above 25°C
- Do not use after the expiry date
- If you have thrush, it's best to avoid having sex until you've completed a course of treatment and the infection has cleared up as your partner may become infected
Do not use if you are
Do not use Canesten oral thrush capsule 150mg without first consulting your doctor:
- If you are under 16 or over 60 years of age.
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Canesten Thrush Duo Oral Capsule & External Cream or other antifungals and other thrush treatments.
- If you are taking the antihistamine terfenadine or the prescription medicine cisapride.
- If you have had thrush more than twice in the last six months.
- If you have any disease or illness affecting your liver or kidneys or have had unexplained jaundice.
- If you suffer from any other chronic disease or illness.
- If you or your partner have had exposure to a sexually transmitted disease. If you are unsure of the cause of your symptoms.
Women only, do not use Canesten oral thrush capsule 150mg if:
- You are pregnant, suspect you might be pregnant or are breastfeeding.
- You have any abnormal or irregular vaginal bleeding or a blood stained discharge
- You have vulval or vaginal sores, ulcers or blisters.
- You are experiencing lower abdominal pain or burning sensation on passing water.
- You are experiencing any adverse events such as redness, irritation or swelling associated with the treatment.
- You are experiencing fever or chills, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea.
- You have foul smelling vaginal discharge.
Men only, do not use Canesten oral thrush capsule 150mg if:
- Your sexual partner does not have thrush.
- You have penile sores, ulcers or blisters.
- You have an abnormal penile discharge (leakage).
- Your penis has started to smell.
- You have pain on passing urine.
How to use
expand_more- Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water (with or without food).
- If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, see your doctor.
Ingredients

Other ingredients: Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Lactose Monohydrate, Magnesium Stearate, Maize Starch, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate.
Capsule shell: Brilliant Blue FCF (E133), Titanium Dioxide (E171) and Gelatine.
Printing ink: Shellac, Black Iron Oxide (E172), Propylene Glycol.

Pharmacy Medicines delivery
Pharmacy Medicines will need to be signed for by someone aged 18 or over. If there isn't anyone in who can sign for your order, you can change your delivery date using the courier's website or app. The pharmacy team may need to contact you by phone for additional information. Please ensure that the contact details you provide during checkout are correct. If they are unable to reach you, the order may be cancelled.
Unfortunately, your order can't be left in a safe place, with a neighbour, or diverted to a ParcelShop. The courier will try to deliver it three times before they return it to us.
Purchasing in bulk/high unit volume
Please note that when purchasing high unit volumes of single lines (10+ units) delivery promotions are null and void.
This is a result of high-volume orders not being able to be dispatched via our normal third-party fulfilment.
As a result for any excessive bulk orders of single lines, we will be in touch regarding your order to discuss further delivery costs that will be incurred.
