AVARANTE® is a treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) that’s available over the counter without the need for a GP appointment. AVARANTE® starts to work within 30 minutes enabling an erection that is firm enough for sex. However, the tablet won’t work on its own, you need to be sexually stimulated for it to work.

When sexually stimulated you can get an erection up to 36 hours after taking one AVARANTE® tablet, which is why many men choose to use it for special occasions like romantic getaways. Unlike other ED over-the-counter treatments, the rate at which the medication is absorbed is not affected by food. So, you can take AVARANTE® with or without food.

Men aged 18 years and over can buy AVARANTE® online without a prescription. Simply complete a confidential questionnaire and a pharmacist will ensure it’s suitable for you. If approved by our pharmacist, medication will be delivered in plain packaging to your home.

ED can be associated with a number of contributing conditions, e.g. hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolaemia or cardiovascular disease. As a result, all men with ED should consult their doctor within 6 months for a clinical review of potential underlying conditions and risk factors associated with ED. Please ensure that you make an appointment to see your GP within 6 months of the date of first receiving AVARANTE®.

What are the side effects of Avarante®?

Like all medicines, AVARANTE® can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects are normally mild and moderate.

However, if you experience any of the following side effects STOP USING AVARANTE® seek medical attention IMMEDIATELY:

An allergic reaction: this is uncommon. Symptoms include sudden wheeziness, difficulty breathing or dizziness, swelling of the eyelids, face, lips or throat, and rashes.
Chest pains: uncommon. If chest pains happen before, during or after sex, get in a semi-sitting position and try to relax. DO NOT use nitrates. You should seek immediate medical help.
A persistent and possibly painful erection lasting longer than 4 hours is rare.
Sudden loss of vision (rare frequency), distorted, dimmed, blurred central vision or sudden decrease of vision.
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) is a rare yet serious disorder of the skin causing flu-like symptoms and a painful rash that spreads and blisters.

Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

Headache, back pain, muscle aches, pain in arms and legs, facial flushing, nasal congestion and indigestion.

Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

Dizziness, stomach ache, feeling sick, being sick (vomiting), reflux, blurred vision, eye pain, difficulty in breathing, presence of blood in urine, prolonged erection, pounding heartbeat sensation, a fast heart rate, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, nose bleeds, ringing in the ears, swelling of the hands, feet or ankles and feeling tired.

Rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

Fainting, seizures and passing memory loss, swelling of the eyelids, red eyes, sudden decrease or loss of hearing, hives (itchy red welts on the surface of the skin), penile bleeding, presence of blood in semen and increased sweating.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in the patient leaflet.

How to use

Please read the enclosed leaflet thoroughly before use. The manufacturer periodically updates Patient Information Leaflets. See the leaflet and box for more details.

Take 1 tablet with or without food as needed, at least 30 minutes before sexual activity.
An erection can be achieved within 30 minutes of anticipated sexual stimulation and for up to 36 hours after taking one tablet of Avarente ®
Swallow the whole tablet with water.
Do not exceed one tablet per day, it is not recommended for continuous daily use.
Using Avarante ® alone will not trigger an erection, it needs sexual stimulation to help produce an erection.
AVARANTE® works for most men on the first or second attempt, but if it does not work after several attempts, or if your ED worsens or feels too strong, speak to your GP.
Contact your doctor if your symptoms persist.
Not to be used by children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
This medicine should not be used by women.
If you take too many tablets, contact your doctor or the nearest emergency department.
If you have any questions after you have bought this medication, please speak to your pharmacist.

How to store

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the ‘EXP’ date shown on the pack.
This medication does not require specific storage conditions.

Warnings and Cautions

Before using Avarante ®, refer to the information leaflet and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions or currently take any other medication as this may cause an interaction.
AVARANTE® is not recommended for continuous daily use. Those who use it frequently (i.e. at least twice weekly) should discuss with their GP whether a low daily dose of tadalafil on prescription would be more suitable.
Schedule a doctor’s check-up within the first six months of using Avarante to rule out underlying health issues. Even if you feel well, erectile dysfunction can be an early sign of serious conditions like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or depression. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor if you haven’t already.
Avoid grapefruit juice, it may affect how well Avarante ® will work.
Avoid large amounts of alcohol before sexual activity.
There have been some reports of dizziness after use, check carefully how you react before driving or operating machinery.
If you have been told by your doctor that you have a lactose intolerance, ask your doctor before taking this medicine.
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in the patient information leaflet

Do not take if you:

do not have an erection problem; this will not be beneficial.
are allergic to tadalafil, or any ingredients listed within the information leaflet.
are taking NITRATE medicines for the relief of chest pain or heart failure (such as glyceryl trinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate) or nitric oxide donors (such as amyl nitrite (“poppers”), nicorandil, molsidomine or sodium nitroprusside.
take Riociguat or other guanylate cyclase stimulators for high blood pressure in the lungs and high blood pressure in the lungs secondary to blood clots.
if you use any recreational drugs
if you have a severe heart issue
if your doctor has advised you to refrain from sexual activity due to a heart or blood vessel condition—such as a recent heart attack, stroke, unstable angina, or severe heart failure—speak to your GP first.
you have uncontrolled high blood pressure or low blood pressure.
you have suffered vision loss due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), also known as "eye stroke"
have a deformed penis (angulation, cavernosal fibrosis or Peyronie’s disease)
are a woman.
are under the age of 18 years.
if you have ever experienced a prolonged, painful erection lasting more than four hours.

Talk to your pharmacist or doctors before use if you:

have a heart problem or think you have a heart problem.
feel breathless, have any pain in your chest with light or moderate activity.
have or ever had heart disease or heart surgery
have multiple system atrophy
have ever had an erection that’s lasted more than 4 hours (priapism) or any conditions which can cause priapism such as sickle cell anaemia (an abnormality of red blood cells), leukaemia (cancer of blood cells), or multiple myeloma (cancer of bone marrow).
have a severe liver problem
have a severe kidney problem
have undergone pelvic surgery or removal of all or part of the prostate gland in which nerves of the prostate are cut
have a known hereditary degenerative retinal disorder such as retinitis pigmentosa which can cause loss of vision.
experience vision distortion, dimming, sudden decrease of vision or loss of vision whilst taking Avarante, stop using it immediately and contact your doctor.
experience decreased or sudden hearing loss whilst taking Avarante, stop using it immediately and contact your doctor.

Active substance: 10mg of tadalafil

Other ingredients: Tablet core: lactose anhydrous, poloxamer 188, cellulose microcrystalline (pH101), povidone (K‑25), croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, sodium laurilsulfate, silica colloidal anhydrous.

Film‑coat: lactose monohydrate, hypromellose (E464), titanium dioxide (E171), iron oxide yellow (E172), triacetin.

Unfortunately, your order can't be left in a safe place, with a neighbour, or diverted to a ParcelShop. The courier will try to deliver it three times before they return it to us.
